Dee Light Bakery

Dee Light Bakery brings Australian-owned charm to Balham with its unique interactive approach, operating as both a working bakery café and hands-on baking school where children learn alongside professional bakers in an open-plan kitchen. This licensed venue specialises in children's baking parties that combine cupcake decoration with pizza making, creating memorable experiences for young bakers.

The school focuses on age-appropriate workshops designed to build confidence and creativity. For younger children aged 5-7, the Animal Modelling and Pizza Party teaches fundamental skills through play, with participants learning to roll out pizza bases, decorate them with toppings, and create charming animal models including lions, rabbits, Dalmatians and lady beetles. Each child takes home their handcrafted animal keepsakes alongside their pizza creations.

Older children from age 9 can join the Cupcake Piping and Pizza Party, which introduces more sophisticated techniques including buttercream piping, rose piping using different methods, and delicate flower paste work. Participants master creating butterflies, blossoms and daisies from flower paste whilst also preparing hand-made pizza dough from scratch. The session concludes with a beautiful box of decorated cupcakes to take home after enjoying their freshly made pizzas.

All workshops include exclusive use of the studio with a private tutor, ensuring personalised attention in an authentic bakery environment. Equipment, aprons, drinks and even a giant cupcake birthday cake are provided, making these sessions particularly suited to birthday celebrations and special occasions for children who enjoy hands-on creative activities.
