Heyl Bakery's one-day Introduction to Sourdough Bread Class runs from their Batter Street premises in Plymouth, where the bakery itself works with organically grown UK stoneground flours. The six-hour session covers a variety of naturally-leavened breads alongside the principles of sourdough fermentation and the role of stoneground flour and heritage grains in the process. Students leave with a recipe booklet, banneton, dough scraper, a bag of organic stoneground flour, a live sourdough starter, and the breads baked on the day - plus lunch and refreshments during the session. Classes are kept to small numbers and are open to those aged 16 and over. The course is priced at £145.
