Rocker cutter

Gozney pizza rocker. Stainless curved blade, two handles.

By Steven · Updated September 2026

A long curved blade that cuts in one press, and that you almost certainly don't need.

Buy it because you want it. The knife in your drawer isn't letting you down.

Best for
Straight cuts, first time, with no tearing.

Better than a cheap wheel, and no better than a big knife.

Do I actually need one?

No.No, and I'd rather be straight about it. A large chef's knife, twelve inches or so, does much the same job and most kitchens have one. Below that length it gets harder to take a clean cut across a whole pizza in one go, which is when a rocker starts to look sensible. A wheel is fine too, as long as you accept it may want a second pass. This is a want rather than a need.

What it does, and why this one

It presses down through a whole cut in one movement rather than rolling along it. Because the blade is straight and long, a second press follows the first line rather than opening a new one beside it.

It resembles a Klingon battle axe, which is a core reason to buy anything. The practical version of that answer is that the cheap wheels I've owned were never satisfying: if the first pass missed, the second pass tended to produce two cuts like tram lines, and the toppings ended up in a heap at one end.

Pros and cons

What works

  • One press, one clean cut, with no dragging
  • Easy to follow the same line again if the first press didn't go through
  • Feels good to use, which isn't nothing on pizza night
  • Stainless and easy to wash

What does not

  • Bulky to store, and awkward in a drawer unless you hang it
  • Wants a board wider than the pizza, or the crust won't cut cleanly
  • Used at an angle it digs into the edge of the board
  • Does nothing a long knife can't do

My experience

Bought with the rest of the outdoor kit and used for nothing except pizza. It hangs on a wall hook with the peels, which is the only reason its size isn't a nuisance. I've wondered about using it to rock through rosemary or thyme, which it looks made for, but I haven't tried it and I don't know what that would do to the edge.

Alternatives

A twelve inch chef's knife, which does the same work. A pizza wheel, which costs a few pounds, isn't as cool, and is still effective.

Will you outgrow it?

No, and you could happily never buy it.
